X-ray technician jobs usually involve handling of radiographs to produce images of a patient's internal organs, bones and other internal parts of the human body. X-ray techs position the patient carefully to produce accurate images, set controls and operate the x-ray machines, position the x-ray film and develop the film after taking. Once completed, the information from the film will help doctors diagnose a patient's condition and lead to the right treatments.
Radiographers with more than two years of experience could take on more complex x-ray technician jobs that specialize in other imaging procedures, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans or computed tomography (CT). Generally, x-ray technician jobs entail responsibility for writing and filing patient reports as well as equipment maintenance.
